The audit table is not necessary for territory transfers and only adds complexity and unrelated discussion to this PR.
Thinking about a future-proof schema for territory transfers and how/what to audit at the same time made my head spin.
Some thoughts I had:
1. Maybe using polymorphism for an audit log / audit events is not a good idea
Using polymorphism as is currently used in the code base (user wallets) means that every generic event must map to exactly one specialized event.
Is this a good requirement/assumption? It already didn't work well for naive auditing of territory transfers since we want events to be indexable by user (no array column) so every event needs to point to a single user but a territory transfer involves multiple users.
This made me wonder: Do we even need a table? Maybe the audit log for a user can be implemented using a view? This would also mean no data denormalization.
2. What to audit and how and why?
Most actions are already tracked in some way by necessity: zaps, items, mutes, payments, ...
In that case: what is the benefit of tracking these things individually in a separate table?
Denormalize simply for convenience or performance? Why no view (see previous point)? Use case needs to be more clearly defined before speccing out a schema.

* Convert worker to ESM
To use ESM for the worker, I created a package.json file in worker/ with `{ type: "module" }` as its sole content.
I then rewrote every import to use ESM syntax.
I also tried to set `{ type: "module" }` in the root package.json file to also use ESM in next.config.js.
However, this resulted in a weird problem: default imports were now getting imported as objects in this shape: `{ default: <defaultImport> }`.
Afaik, this should only be the case if you use "import * as foo from 'bar'" syntax: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Statements/import#default_import
This is fixed by not using `{ type: "module" }` for some reason. However, then, next.config.js also doesn't support ESM import syntax anymore.
The documentation says that if you want to use ESM, you can use next.config.mjs: https://nextjs.org/docs/pages/api-reference/next-config-js
But I didn't want to use MJS extension since I don't have any experience with it. For example, not sure if it's good style to mix JS with MJS etc. So I kept the CJS import syntax there.

I tried to tell babel where to find the babel config file (.babelrc), specifying the babel config in worker/package.json under "babel", using babel.config.json etc. to no avail.
However, afaict, we don't need babel for the worker since it won't run in a browser. Babel is only used to transpile code to target browsers.

* invoices are no longer deleted to prevent double-spends but marked as confirmed.
therefore, during checkInvoice, we also check if the invoice is already confirmed.
* instead of showing FundError (with "fund wallet" and "pay invoice" as options), we now always immediately show an invoice
* since flagging, paying bounties and poll voting used FundError but only allowed spending from balance, they now also support paying per invoice

Update how we query for item-driven notifications to de-dupe them for:
1. mentions
2. replies
3. thread subscriptions
4. user subscriptions
users should recieve only 1 notification for any given item created by another user, following the above priority order
this is accomplished by querying for replies to current user, replies on subscribed threads, items from subscribed users, and mentions (if enabled for the current user), sorting those results by item id and priority order within item id based on notification type, then selecting the highest priority notification from each item id
these results are then union all'ed with all other notification types, unchanged.
